Sandboy bio

Na začátku, v roce 1996, byli čtyři týpci z Prahy a Strakonic. Tři z nich po vydání alba a dvouměsíčním společném evropském turné s kalifornskými Game Face právě opustili pražskou emo-punkovou legendu Clean Slate. Spojilo je předsevzetí pracovat na nových přímočarých punk-rockových skladbách v nové kapele. Společně s novým bubeníkem tak založili Sandboy a jejich nadšení brzy vyústilo ve zbrusu nový repertoár. Nové skladby si okamžitě našly cestu k fanouškům a Sandboy se rychle stali populární mezi SK8 a SNB komunitou. Hráli po celé republice a v roce 1997 nahráli první demo materiál, který se záhy šířil scénou. V únoru roku 1998 po úspěšném koncertu v Roxy a interview pro pořad Šedesátka v ČT však bohužel front-man kapely Mad-V-Deck oznamuje svůj úmysl odejít. Kytarista Needle se chopí mikrofónu a kapela ještě nějakou dobu funguje posílena o excelentního kytaristu Roberta Robovského z kapely Kevorkian. Absence frontmana ale přeci jen pro kapelu znamená v průběhu roku 1998 předčasné ukončení koncertní činnosti.

Trvá dalších 5 let, než se na přelomu roku 2002 a 2003 bubeník Mysha a kytarista Needle znovu potkávají v nově vzniklé kapele Download Free Movie. Spolu s basákem Filipem Robovským ( bratrem ex-kytaristy Sandboy Roberta ) a zpěvákem Pepem začínají tvořit nové skladby, na kterých se podílí i Míra z Třeboňských Suffer a zároveň oživují starý repertoár Sandboy. Po prvních koncertech zesílí hlasy fanoušků toužících po vzkříšení Sandboy. Nakonec zvítězí myšlenka kontinuity a kapela znovu začíná koncertovat pod starým názvem. Na jaře roku 2004 nahrazuje zkušeného harcovníka Filipa na postu basáka Dáda z kapely Flowshot. Kapela nahrává nový materiál, podílí se na kompilaci „SK8 at all hazards“ a objevuje se na pražských i mimopražských rádiích. Pak ale přichází nová rána. Frontman Pepe odchází z kapely, aby se mohl naplno věnovat pracovním povinnostem v Horsefeathers. Historie se opakuje a kapela znovu shání zpěváka. Naštěstí se za mikrofon postaví Reesha – nová mladá posila z kapely My First Date. Sandboy jsou tak znovu kompletní, s novým zvukem, zkušenostmi a skladbami. Enjoy!!!



Sandboy bio

There were four guys on the beginning in 1996. Three of them just left the Prague's famous emo-band Clean Slate and together with new drummer formed the band Sandboy and started to work on new songs. Their enthusiasm led to simple and straight forward punkrock songs which found very quickly the way to hearths of fans. They played shows and supported SK8 and SNB related events. In 1997 Sandboy recorded first demo material, which spread across the scene. Unfortunately Mad-V-Deck, the front man of the band, announced his plan to leave Sandboy in 1998. The last show followed by the interview for Czech TV took place in Prague's club Roxy in February. After this show Sandboy continued to practice. Guitarist Needle grabbed the microphone and young and excellent guitar player Robert Robovsky joined the band to flavour Sandboy's sound. But the band was not able to struggle with the gap on the frontline, which lead to the final end in summer of 1998.

It took additional 5 years before the band has been reborn and it was not so easy. During the winter 2002/2003 Needle - ex-sandboy guitarist was asked by Mysha (ex-sandboy drummer) to join his new band called Download Free Movie. After couple of weeks guys made an agreement and Download Free Movie started to practise in five pieces with other experienced players - Phill Robovsky for bass (brother of ex-sandboy guitarist Robert), Mira for lead guitar and Pepe for vocals. These guys started to work on new songs and also used some old Sandboy's stuff. But before they were able to play their first show, Mira - one of the co-founders decided to leave the band and work only for his second band called Suffer. From this time line-up became stable and practising more and more intensive. DFM started to play their first shows and it seemed their music started to be successful. In the beginning of 2004 they recognized the name of the band very long and hard to remember. The voice of the fans asking for Sandboy reunion was also stronger and stronger. The idea of Sandboy continuity finally won, after long discussion regarding rebranding. The last personal change till nowadays appeared in March 2004. Phill left the band and Sandboy have been seeking for new bass player. They have found more than good replacement after couple of weeks. The name of the the brand new face in Sandboy is Dada. However Dada is new in Sandboy, he's not new in HC scene and he represents the perfect fit for the band. What else to say? Sandboy is back! With better new sound, many new songs and musician's 5 years new experience. Enjoy!!!
